Counterattack with the 17. SS-Panzergrenadier-Division "Götz von Berlichingen" and the paratroopers from Fallschirmjäger-Regiment 6 in the area of Carentan against US forces in mid June 1944. The Götz von Berlichingen Division remained in this sector for the remainder of June and most of July, struggling valiantly to hold back the Americans.
